“While Jewish turnout in elections often exceeds 70%, Arab participation has hovered at around 50%.

United List candidates … campaign to defend the interests of Israel’s Arab citizens, who make up about one-fifth of the country’s 7.8 million people.

United List recently has been focusing less on who will be Israel’s next leader than on how to defend the interests of Israeli Arabs. It calls for increasing the minimum wage and creating jobs through public-works projects in Arab communities with high unemployment. The issue of Israeli police tactics in Arab cities and towns has taken center stage.”  #MinorityRights
